Woman playing Pokemon Go killed after witnessing robbery in New Mexico
Cayla Campos, a 21-year-old resident of Albuquerque died of a gunshot wound as she drove along Granite Avenue while she & her boyfriend were playing Pokémon Go.

Robbers gunned down a New Mexico woman, who had been playing Pokémon Go and accidentally stumbled into a robbery in progress. According to authorities, Cayla Campos, a 21-year-old resident of Albuquerque driving through Granite Avenue while on a scavenger hunt with her boyfriend when they suddenly became spotted two assailants trying to rob people in a car nearby.
Gunshots, followed by a crash claimed her life
According to the reports, Cayla’s boyfriend informed the authorities that she immediately turned her car around when she noticed that one of the robbers had a gun with him. Panicked, she attempted to flee the scene. On spotting her, the robber opened fire on the vehicle.
Speaking to the media, Cayla's father Carl Campos said that his daughter had died of one gunshot that hit her neck. Gilbert Gallegos Jr, a spokesman for the Albuquerque Police Department said that soon after the incident, the car crashed into a nearby house.
Speaking about his daughter's love for Pokémon Go. Carl said that she along with her boyfriend would always make a lopp around Bianchetti Park near her apartment and play the game. He also mentioned that it often made him wonder, why his daughter is different from other children of her age, who are out clubbing every night.
Thousands reach out for support
Campos worked as a dental assistant at Parkway Dental in Albuquerque, and aspired to be an oral surgeon.
Describing her as a "very special person", Carl, wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday which read: Most of you know already for those who I couldn’t reach, we lost our baby Cayla last night to a shooting. She was murdered in cold blood in Albuquerque NM. Anyone that new her knows we lost a very special person. You’ll never leave my mind baby! I don’t know how to live without you (sic)."
Thousands of people had reached out to him on social media in support.
Carl Campos said his daughter spoke to her older sister over the phone a couple of hours before her death. Her sister playfully teased Campos for still playing those “silly games,” he added.
Cops find a lead
The police have found the details of the two cars involved in the robbery — a red car possibly a Ford Mustang, and a silver four-door sedan.
Detectives have not heard from the robbery victims, but they said that they had received several tips and were pursuing leads.
