Kyiv: Russia launched a wave of drone attack on the Ukrainian city of Odesa on Friday as the President of Czech Republic, Peter Pavel visited the city and held meetings with other leaders.
The drone attack led to three injuries and sparking massive fire, this attack comes after Russia agreed to halt any strikes on energy facilities.
Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa region, reported that the city experienced "local emergency power outages" in three districts, suggesting possible damage to its energy infrastructure.
Reacting to the attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on a Telegram said, "We expect real pressure on Russia from the US, Europe and all our partners," he added "And this is what will allow diplomacy to work."
Zelenskyy added, “joint pressure on Russia, strengthening sanctions and defense support for our state ... is the way to stop such terror and Russia's prolongation” of the Russia Ukraine War.
Ukraine and Russia have agreed in principle to a limited ceasefire following discussions between US President Donald Trump and the leaders of both countries this week. However, uncertainty remains about the timing and details of the ceasefire, as both nations prepare to send delegations to Riyadh next week for separate talks with the US.
Russia has accused Ukraine of blowing up a gas facility in the Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces have launched an incursion, claiming it violated the ceasefire agreement. Ukraine has denied these allegations.
Russian Defense Ministry said a gas metering station near Sudzha, in the Kursk region was blown up by the Ukrainians. It called the attack a "deliberate provocation by the Kyiv regime," suggesting that the strike was part of a broader effort to undermine US President Trump's peace initiatives by targeting Russia’s energy infrastructure.
Ukraine's military General Staff dismissed Moscow's accusations, blaming the Russian military for shelling the Sudzha gas metering station as part of a "discrediting campaign."
