About 3,000 people lived in the Ukrainian village of Petropavlovka before the Russian invasion, now there are no more than 800 residents.

The village has endured daily shelling since the start of the war.

Several residential buildings burned down on Tuesday and three people were injured: 25-year-old Ekaterina and her two children: six-year-old Svetlana and three-year-old Roman.

Military paramedics rushed them to a hospital in Kharkiv for urgent medical attention.

Ambulances can no longer enter the village because of a destroyed bridge and heavy shelling.

According to the head of the military administration of the local council, more than half of the houses in the village have been destroyed, as well as vital infrastructure.

In the battered building of a rural outpatient clinic, the bodies of two Russian soldiers were seen lying amongst the rubble.
