The worsening situation in Afghanistan
In today’s time and age, Afghanistan has been suffering from this unstable security situation more than ever. With the Afghan war already becoming the longest war in US history, the situations have not only turned out to be more intense but also more complicated with time. Taliban, that now enjoys more territorial control than ever is initiating attacks that are bigger, more frequent, more widespread and much deadlier.
The security situation in the country has only worsened in recent years with rates of civilian casualties reaching record highs in 2018. Additionally, the humanitarian situation also remains dire owing to a probable scarcity in resources and the possibility of a prolonged drought. Scarcity issues also continue to threaten greater levels of displacement and human suffering in the already suffering area.
However, the Afghanisthan government continues its efforts to fight the Taliban, which has been waging a war against Kabul for almost two decades. Another fight that the government has going on its front is that with the Islamic State terrorist group (banned in Russia), which has been operating in Afghanistan since 2015.
