Tedros: 'Never too late' to control virus outbreak

The head of the World Health Organization said it is "never too late" to control an outbreak of the coronavirus, and repeated the guidance on governmental and societal cooperation. Speaking at a briefing in Geneva on Monday, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said "even in countries where transmission is intense, it can be brought under control by applying an all of government, all of society response."

He said countries like France, Germany, the Republic of Korea, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom had major outbreaks of the virus, but were able to suppress it when they took action.According to Johns Hopkins University tally there are 19,877,261 confirmed cases worldwide, and 731,570 deaths.The United States makes up more than one quarter of global cases with currently 5,044,864 confirmed cases.
