Brexit: British Queen calls the EU exit a 'priority' for government

Queen Elizabeth II on October 14 has said that Britain is aiming for Brexit by the end of October as fixed earlier. She spoke on the European Union exit while setting out the administration's legislative project for a fresh parliamentary session. While speaking to the lawmakers the Queen said, "My government's priority has always been to secure the United Kingdom's departure from the European Union on October 31," as final talks went on in Brussels to obtain a divorce deal. The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson desires to exit the EU by October 31.

Supreme Court heard pleas on parliament suspension

In the UK Supreme Court on September 17, there were two different appeals PM Boris Johnson's decision to suspend Parliament till the October 14. He reportedly took advice from the Queen before taking the decision of suspending Parliament. David Pannick QC, the representative of the opponents, said that the Queen has no motive behind the decision and she only did what the Prime Minister advised her to do so. He also said that the court is making no criticism of the Queen in the proceedings as she acted on her Prime Minister's advice. He then said that the Prime Minister's statements make it clear that he found the Parliament as a potential threat to the execution of his plans. He added that the PM's advice to the Queen was maybe influenced by his wish to prevent any opposition coming his way in the Parliament on Brexit.

They wanted the resignation of Boris Johnson if the judges found out that he misled the Queen in order to suspend Parliament for 5 weeks. Johnson in his defence said the recent Parliament session lasted longer than it usually does, for 5 weeks. He also said that there is a lot of time to discuss Brexit after a European Union summit on October 17-18.

Johnson vows to get Brexit done

The British PM wishes to take Britain out of the European Union by the end of October even without any deal. However, the Britain Parliament has issued a bill that states that the Prime Minister will have to delay the exit if there is no deal finalised by the deadline. The British Prime Minister has received a lot of criticism at home for not presenting new plans to break Brexit deadlock. The Irish PM Varadkar too earlier after meeting Johnson said that Britain did not provide any logical alternatives to the much talked about the agreement reached by the former British PM Theresa May.
