The Congress has taken its endeavour to remove PM Narendra Modi abroad once again, voicing its narrative at the Oxford Union, a debate society, which has passed a verdict in its debate on Friday which was titled “This House Has No Confidence in Modi’s Government”, as announced by Congress Leader Salman Khurshid who was arguing for the topic and shared the 176-64 vote-split on Twitter.

Oxford Union had declared its topic of debate on Friday:

Following this, they also tweeted the arguments presents for and against the topic.

Congress Leader and Supreme Court Advocate, Salman Khurshid stated in his argument that 'This House Has No Confidence in Modi’s Government' on Friday saying:

"The issue is not what we think of Mr Modi, but what supporters of Mr Modi think of Mr Modi - “Let him be because there’s nobody better than him”. I believe the time has come to let this man go and let India experiment with something new," tweeted Oxford Union.

Arguing against the proposition for the Modi Government was Janhavi Dadarkar - CEO of Maiora which is a corporate advisory firm and is also Programme Lead for IOD’s flagship governance course.

She said: "PM Modi has given Indians over the world and Indians in India a new kind of hope. Hope in unity in diversity, and not in divisive politics."

Prashant Bhushan, arguing for the proposition said that: “This is a unique thing that Modi Govt has given us - it has destroyed all institutions whose job is to find facts. Today, we are told that there is no such thing as facts, there’s no such thing as science and there’s no such thing as reason.”

Arguing against the proposition famous Indian author and commentator Gurucharan Das debated along the lines of why Modi is India's best chance, saying:

"Actually despite a blunder like demonetisation, the overall economy was reasonably well-managed and far-better managed than the previous government.”

Post the arguments the Oxford Union pronounced its 176-54 verdict for the proposition confirming that 'This House Has No Confidence in Modi’s Government.'

This is hardly the first time that the Congress has attempted such a stunt on foreign soil. Just a few months earlier, Kapil Sibal had been present at a news briefing where a hacker had claimed he would hack an EVM live. He didn't, however, and the demonstration fell flat.
