France’s EU minister takes a dig at Britain, names her cat 'Brexit'. Here’s her reason

Natalie Loiseau, Minister for European Affairs in Emmanuel Macron's government wrote on her private Facebook page that she had named her pet Brexit, according to a local newspaper.

According to the report, Loiseau explained that she had named the animal Brexit because:

"He wakes me up every morning miaowing to death because he wants to go out, and then when I open the door he stays in the middle, undecided, and then gives me evil looks when I put him out."

Loiseau has been in charge of France's preparations for Brexit and as Europe Minister she has had a close view of the negotiations between London and Brussels. Her comment comes after the British Parliament narrowly rejected leaving the European Union without an exit agreement last week.

The parliament voted 312-308 on Wednesday to reject such a move. The vote does not eliminate the possibility of the U.K. leaving the EU, but it does allow members of parliament to vote to delay Brexit.

The vote is slated for Thursday, and if it passes, the U.K. will no longer be scheduled to leave the EU on March 29.

The U.K. voted to leave the EU in 2016, but since then its Parliament has struggled to come to a withdrawal agreement.

The Speaker of the Parliament on Monday said he would block Prime Minister Theresa May's push for a third vote on her Brexit deal if she did not agree to changes, throwing the fate of the country's departure from the bloc into further doubt. 

Loiseau has rejected multiple U.K. proposals and warned against a no-deal Brexit in the past. She is projected as a top candidate in Emmanuel Macron's party in the European Parliament elections. She will be running against controversial far-right figure Marine Le Pen.
