Johnson challenged on COVID-19 testing, care homes
The deputy leader of the UK opposition Angela Rayner challenged the Prime Minister on his government's failure to provide a reliable, nationwide COVID-19 testing facility and urged him to grant funding to the social care sector ahead of winter pressures.
The deputy leader of the UK opposition Angela Rayner challenged the Prime Minister on his government's failure to provide a reliable, nationwide COVID-19 testing facility and urged him to grant funding to the social care sector ahead of winter pressures.
Boris Johnson expressed concern over rising infections in care homes and said the government would be announcing a further winter care home action plan.
Rayner, however, said promises of regular testing at care homes had been broken, adding the Prime Minister's priorities had been misplaced.
"This winter, we are staring down the barrel of a second wave with no plan for the looming crisis," Rayner said.
She continued: "People can't say goodbye to their loved ones, grandparents can't see their grandchildren and frontline staff can't get the tests that they need - and what was the top priority for the Covid war cabinet this weekend? Restoring grouse shooting. Is this really your top priority?"
