Raab: UK lockdown to remain for some time
UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said Sunday that Britain will not just go back to normal after the nation's lockdown eases.
UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said Sunday that Britain will not just go back to normal after the nation's lockdown eases.
"It won't be just going back, it will be a 'new normal'", he told the Sky News programme Ridge On Sunday.
Raab is currently standing in for prime minister Boris Johnson, who's been recovering after being hospitalised with the virus.
Britain has recorded more than 20,000 hospital deaths from COVID-19.
Thousands more are thought to have died in nursing homes.
Despite the toll, which saw another 813 virus-related deaths announced Saturday, some in Britain are growing impatient with the restrictions, which have brought much of the economy and daily life to a halt.
Road traffic has begun to creep up after plummeting when the lockdown first came into force, and some businesses have begun to reopen after implementing social-distancing measures.
Scientists say the UK has reached the peak of the pandemic but is not yet out of danger.
