UK to reopen gyms, pools and sports facilities amid surge in COVID cases

The UK government on Thursday announced plans to reopen gyms, swimming pools and sports facilities, as well as new plans for the lifting of restrictions on outdoor performances.

Oliver Dowden, the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport made the announcement at a briefing at Downing Street, where he revealed that open air music and theatre performances would be permitted from 11 July, while gyms will open in two weeks time.
