The Swindon Crown Court sentenced two people on September 23 for illegally accessing footage of the autopsy of the Argentine soccer player, Emiliano Sala
The Swindon Crown Court sentenced two people on September 23 for illegally accessing footage of the autopsy of the Argentine soccer player, Emiliano Sala. The image from the CCTV footage was then circulated on the internet. The director of the Camera Security Services Limited, Sherry Bray has been jailed for 14 months and her employee, Christopher Ashford for five months. Sala died in a plane crash on January 21 near Channel Island. Prosecutors said that director of Wilter-based camera company accessed the footage of a closed-circuit television camera from a mortuary in Bournemouth.
Allegations on Bray
Bray allegedly sent a message to her employee before his shift saying there is a 'nice one' on the table for her to watch it. Bray and Ashford, both replayed the clip showing Sala's autopsy separately. Bray even took a picture of the video on her phone and forwarded it to her daughter on Facebook Messenger. According to the prosecutors, this further lead to the graphic being shared by many others on social media. Bray was previously accused of taking pictures of the body of a man who died in normal circumstances. Basil Purdue, a forensic pathologist doctor called a glaring violation of medical confidentiality. The defendants even admitted computer misuse, thrice. Moreover, Bray confessed to deleting the photos in order to stall the judgement in the court.
Sala's family
Romania Sala, sister of Emiliano Sala also found out about the leaked picture her brother on Instagram. She found it unbelievable that there are people so 'wicked' who would commit such a violation. Sala's sister also said that she will never forget about those images of her brother's autopsy which were seen by the world. Both her brother and her mother 'will never forget' about the incident. Emiliano Sala went missing after a single-engine Piper Mailbu aircraft crashed, carrying the player and pilot David Ibboston. Later the body was recovered on February 6. Peter Crabtree, the judge at Swindon Crown Court also believed that both Ashford and Bray have 'abused' their positions in an 'appalling' way.
