Former UK ambassador to US on Capitol violence

The former UK Ambassador to the US has said that Wednesday's violent riot at the Capitol has given "enormous comfort to regimes" across the globe, "which don't like to be lectured by democracies about human rights".

Christopher Meyer, who served as the most senior British diplomat in the US between 1997 and 2003, also added that President Donald Trump deliberately encouraged the events with his speech.
