Roof collapse in Peru
After a hailstorm caused a roof to collapse on a costume party, at least six people died and 40 were injured in central Peru on October 13, authorities said. Local media said that 1000 people were in the building during the collapse. As per a recent statement by police, some are still trapped in the rubble and five of the injured are in a serious condition. The incident occurred during a local festival taking place in a building in Huancayo which is situated about 200 kilometres (125 miles) east of the capital Lima, observed agencies.
New Orleans roof collapse
In recent incidents of roof collapse, a partial roof collapse at the under-construction Hard Rock Hotel New Orleans killed one person and three others are still unaccounted for reported media. The building was considered unstable with the potential for another collapse. It's a very dangerous situation said New Orleans Fire Department Superintendent Timothy McConnell at a Press Conference. Mc Connel also added that another collapse is possible. Firefighters evacuated construction workers inside the hotel after the upper six to eight floors collapsed, he added. According to local Homeland Security office director Collin Arnold, the operation to clear the area is ongoing due to the hotel's unstable structure. Moreover, 18 others have been injured and are being treated while a nineteenth person on the scene refused treatment for their injuries.
