Prince Harry, Meghan Markle removed from Royal Foundation website
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle removed from Royal Foundation website after they declared to take divergent path in May. The website now features Kate and William.
As per reports in UK media, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have been removed from The Royal Foundation website list. The website now only features Kate Middleton and Prince William. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's charity projects have also been omitted from the projects listed on the site. However, their previous works remain in the site's news feed. The move comes as the couple decided to choose a divergent path in their work which was earlier announced in May.
The split was a 'natural progression'
Sources close to UK media said the split was a natural progression and not abrupt. The Royal Foundation now enlists five main areas of focus: mental health, conservation, service, young people and early years, Kate’s initiative to focus on the critical first years of a child’s development. Prince William and Harry created the foundation in 2009. Middleton came onboard after marrying William in 2011. Markle joined last year after her wedding to Harry.
On the other hand, the Buckingham Palace announced in a statement saying, "Both couples will continue to work together on projects in the future, including on The Foundation's mental health program, Heads Together."
The changes in the charity
The charitable arm was originally known as The Royal Foundation. After Kate and Markle entered the picture, it was amended to The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. With the recent changes, it has been again renamed to The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Meghan and Harry announced the creation of their new charity, known as Sussex Royal- The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in July. The couples also separated their joint “court” at Kensington Palace by creating two separate offices in spring. While Meghan and Harry’s office moved out of Kensington Palace and into Buckingham Palace, where the Queen resides, William and Kate’s office remains in Kensington Palace.
