WATCH: 56-Year-Old 'French Spider-Man' Climbs 662-Foot Building Without Ropes And Safety Gear

French urban climber Alain Robert, also known as the French climber, has been arrested by the London City Police after scaling one of the tallest buildings in the city. As per media reports, Robert climbed the 662-foot (202-metre) Heron Tower without ropes or any safety gear on Thursday, October 25. The Heron Tower, officially 110 Bishopsgate, stands at 755 ft (230m) tall, including its 92 ft (28m) mast. As per media reports, the police officials had a hard time bringing him down. They reportedly, cordoned off the building, closed all nearby roads and ushered spectators away from the building. In fact, they have also issued a statement on Twitter where they announced a road closure in the area. They took to Twitter and wrote, "There are currently road closures in place on Camomile Street down to Bevis Marks due to a man free-climbing the Sales Force Tower at 110 Bishopsgate. Our officers are in attendance. Please avoid the area if possible." Robert, who is also known as 'the French Spider-Man', has previously scaled several tall buildings around the world, including Dubai’s 2,717ft (828m) Burj Khalifa. He has mostly climbed the heights without ropes or harnesses and also without permission. As per media reports, Roberts previously in an interview stated that he feels alive when he takes up such risks that can cause him death. Having a suitable muscle and bone proportion has been of great help to him. However, this time his action is understood to be a publicity stunt for Dead Man’s Fingers' spiced rum. Robert, who was previously a rock climber had turned his attention to the skyscrapers in the mid-1990s and has climbed up to 160 of these ascents since then, according to his manager. The workers in the building were stunned with the sight of him climbing the massive building with bare hands. The crowd that was pushed back to about 150 m away from the building, clapped and cheered the climber as he waved at them from about three-quarters of the sky scrapper. Many of them took photos and videos of him as he was scaling the height and uploaded them on social media.
