Cool your rhetoric Imran, Kashmir India's internal issue: US lawmaker
Asserting that Kashmir is an internal issue for India, Indian-American lawmaker Ro Khanna said that Pakistan PM Imran Khan needs to cool his rhetoric over it.
Asserting that Kashmir is an internal issue for India, Indian-American lawmaker Ro Khanna who recently joined the Pakistani Congressional Caucus has said that Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan needs to cool his heated rhetoric. "Kashmir is an internal matter for India's democracy and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan needs to cool his heated rhetoric and not escalate to a war or conflict," Congressman Khanna told members of the Indian-American community during an interaction in Freemont, California recently. "Imran Khan's rhetoric of war with India is absolutely ridiculous," Khanna, the two-term Democratic Congressman representing Silicon Valley in the US House of Representatives, was quoted as saying by local India Post in its latest weekly edition.
Kashmiri-American community backs J&K integration
During the interaction, the Kashmiri-American community appreciated his support in democratic resolution of the conflict and upliftment of communities from poverty and terror. Meanwhile, in a tweet earlier this week, Congresswoman Ilhan Abdullahi Omar expressed her concerns over alleged human rights violations in the Kashmir Valley. She urged for an immediate restoration of communication, respect for human rights, democratic norms, and religious freedom and de-escalation. Donald Trump while meeting PM Narendra Modi during G7 summit had also state very clearly that Kashmir a bilateral matter. Pakistan had been asking US to intervene on the issue.
India sets terms to US on J&K
PM Modi in his bilateral meet with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Biarritz, France set the terms straight over the Kashmir issue between India and Pakistan. After offering to mediate between the heads of India and Pakistan on multiple occasions, Donald Trump on Monday decided to back off, after admitting New Delhi's stance over mediation with Islamabad. Donald Trump said, "We spoke last night about Kashmir, Prime Minister really feels he has it under control."
J&K integrated with India
On August 5, PM Modi led government abrogated the Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir stripping the state off the special status and bifurcated the state into two union territories of - Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Ever since, Imran Khan has been attempting to make Kashmir an international issue, fearmongering over New Delhi's treatment of Kashmiris following the communication lockdown, and alleging a probable attempt of "ethnic cleansing." However, in response, the international community has not only looked Pakistan's foul cries over Kashmir, but also stated that it is a bilateral issue between New Delhi and Islamabad. Even several member nations of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation have remained mum on the issue.
