Donald Trump attacks Sadiq Khan in tweet, misspells his name
Donald Trump has misspelled Sadiq Khan's name while calling him 'incompetent' after the London Mayor criticised Trump for playing golf during Hurricane Dorian
US President Donald Trump has hit out at Sadiq Khan on September 3 once again after the London Mayor criticized him for playing golf during Hurricane Dorian. Trump further called Sadiq a "terrible mayor" as he condemned London's knife crime rate and claimed people were "afraid to even walk the streets." However, what caught most eyes is the fact that the US President misspelled Khan's surname as 'Kahn' in his tweet.
Trump pulled out of a trip to Poland to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the start of World War II to concentrate on Hurricane Dorian, but then he also played golf at his private club in Virginia. Later, Sadiq Khan had commented that Donald Trump is “dealing with a hurricane out on the golf course."
Trump's tweet
Trump went on another of his infamous Twitter rants, this time directed at Sadiq Khan.
Most of social media, however, focused on the misspelling.
The Trump-Khan clash
Controversies initially sparked between the pair in 2015. Khan criticized Trump's presidential campaign pledge to ban Muslims from the US. He told to the UK media that he hoped Trump "loses badly".
On the other hand, during his working visit to London on July 2018, Trump claimed that Khan had done "a very bad job on terrorism." The President also added that all of the horrible things are going on in London, with all of the crime. Trump has described Khan as a "stone-cold loser" and "very dumb", minutes before he landed in the UK on Air Force One. Khan's office has accused Trump of "childish insults".
Adding a cherry on top of the clashes, nearly a year later, Khan approved a giant inflatable Donald Trump baby blimp to fly over London during the President's state visit.
Trump has also compared the London mayor to his New York counterpart Bill de Blasio, a day before he was due to arrive in the city. He stated that he didn't think much of the mayor. "He is like Bill," Trump said, adding that he is "shorter" in height than Bill.
