The Vice President of the United States and son of Donald Trump took a dig on an international media outlet on October 31 by sharing an edited picture of the hero dog felicitating the US President. The hero dog from the US service played an important role in the recent secret raid by the American troops to kill ISIS leader, Baghdadi. The second son of US President sarcastically wrote in the caption that he is not sure if the "picture has been altered" and tagged the New York Times asking if they can "help everyone crack the case."

The reason behind the tweet

In the prolonged tiff between the New York Times and the Trump administration, the US President has previously also called the journalists and the media outlet as 'fake'. Eric Trump's recent tweet is also a retaliation to NY Times, who according to the Republicans, forges facts in order to misguide the people of the country. The White House has not only condemned the news but also mocked the 'poor journalism' where they would do elaborated reports on 'irrelevant' incidents while leaving out the facts which are most important. Earlier this month, an American clothing company put up a billboard at Times Square which showed a look-alike of President of United States Donald Trump being hog-tied by a woman which was called out by his son, Donald Trump Jr. criticizing NY Times for not drawing any attention to the incident. He also referred the media as “hypocrite” for instead covering an outrage on a “stupid” meme which according to him was only seen by just eight people.

President Trump shares fake photo

Donald Trump faced massive backlash after he tweeted a fake picture of the dog involved in the Bagdadi raid getting medal of honor. On October 30, the United States President had tweeted a fake picture of the dog who was involved in counter-terrorism operation that led to the killing of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. In the photo shared by Trump, he can be seen honouring the dog with a medal. The photo was an altered version of an actual photograph and was edited by the Daily Wire, a conservative site. Later on October 31, Trump thanked the website for the recreation and informed that the dog, named Conan, will be leaving for the White House next week.
