Kamala Harris to cut staff, limit pay amid faltering campaign
Kamala Harris has planned to cut staff and limit pay amid failing campaigns informed her campaign manager Juan Rodriguez. Harris is fifth in Presidential race.
US Presidential candidate Kamala Harris is about to cut staff and restructure her efforts as her campaigning has been recently faltering and losing its appeal amongst the Democratic voters, as per reports. Earlier Harris had announced that she would place a premium on Iowa and campaign heavily there. The restructuring is a result of incredibly competitive resources environment and also aide campaigning in Iowa said her campaign manager Juan Rodriguez. Juan confirmed that he would take a pay along with all of Kamala's consultants.
Changes in Kamala Harris' campaigning
A memo presented by the campaign read that the changes in Kamala's campaigning include cutting staff at her Baltimore headquarters and redeploying field staff from key early states of New Hampshire, Nevada and her home state of California to Iowa. The memo further mentioned that her campaigning in South Carolina won’t change. According to a staffer, the Presidential candidate called for an all-staff meeting on October 29 to announce the changes. Kamal further said to her staff that she was sad to let them go and asked them to make adjustments.
Kamala Harris is currently at 5th position
Harris is currently at the fifth position in the Presidential race behind Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and Pete Buttigieg. She rose to the second place in June after confronting Biden in a debate. Her average in national surveys currently stands as low as 5%. She was expected to perform well with black voters as she is herself a major black candidate but it seems Biden has been leading with all the buzz around whistleblower complaint. Democrats to have failed to categorize her and so she has sought to walk the line between the party’s insurgent left and its more cautious establishment.
Harris' cash deficit
Currently, Harris is faceing a cash deficit after spending $14.6 million as opposed to $11.8 million which she raised. Investments in infrastructure and expensive media buys have been cited as the reason behind the situation. It's not just Harris with money problems. Earlier Biden had reported that he had only $9 million left which is less as compared to $10 million that Harris still holds for campaigning. Harris'manager called the phase a move like those of successful presidential campaigns in the past that had to change course midstream due to unexpected problems.
