Nikki Haley says immigrants should show natives how they are 'similar'

The former United States ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley advised the immigrants in the country that they should not show the difference among them and the natives, instead, 'show them how you're similar'. The first and the only Indian-American member of the US cabinet shared the advice received from her mother during an interview with an international media outlet on November 10. Haley recalled how she belonged to a small town in Bamberg in South Carolina, where she was teased about her mother wearing traditional Indian attire while her father used to wear a turban.

Overcame all odds

As Haley used to come home disheartened from all the bullying by the children, her mother always advised her to focus on the positives, which is the reason she overcame all the odds in her life. She became the Governor of her state in the southern part of the US, which reportedly had deep-rooted racism among people and then went on to become a member of the cabinet from the Republican Party. Even though the Republicans are often on the receiving end of criticism of being conservative and excluding the non-white members of the society along with women, and immigrants, Haley is also mentioned as a prospective presidential candidate. As a governor, she also actively contributed to removing a racist symbol from the state's legislative complex which was the flag of the American Confederacy.

Haley revealed top aides 'resisted' Trump

Nikki Haley has revealed that two senior aides of President Donald Trump had 'resisted' him and also urged Haley to join them in President's opposition. In her memoir, 'With All Due Respect' said the-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and then-WhiteHouse chief of staff, John Kelly told Haley that they were trying to 'save the country'. The former US ambassador to the UN also confessed that she was 'shocked' by the request made by the officials in a closed-door meeting. The former South Carolina governor also wrote that in her opinion Kelly and Tillerson should have raised their concerns in front of President Trump, instead of her and called it 'offensive'.
