Initial shipments of the second COVID-19 vaccine authorized in the U.S. are inflight Sunday, making their way to an unknown destination as the nation works to bring the coronavirus pandemic under control.
The trucks left the Olive Branch, Mississippi, factory, near Memphis, Tennessee, with the vaccine developed by Moderna Inc. and the National Institutes of Health.
Several of these trucks then arrived at UPS's WorldPort facility in Louisville, Kentucky, where they were loaded onto an airplane.
The much-needed shots are expected to begin being given from Monday, just three days after the Food and Drug Administration authorized their emergency rollout.
