Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Shri Siddhi Vinayak Temple and Gujarati Samaj of Houston Event Centre in Houston, Texas. Expressing his delight that Houston will get a Siddhi Vinayak Temple, PM Modi said that the presence of vighnaharta (another name of Lord Ganesha) around will help the people of the community in attaining a bright future and will become a source of inspiration. He also extended his best wishes for the initiatives to the people of the Indian community, during a function of the community in Houston, Texas.

“We should stay connected with our mother tongue”: PM Modi
Speaking about the Gujarati Samaj of Houston Event Centre, he said, “Wherever we go, we should stay connected with our mother tongue, it has its own strength. You're making a centre for Gujarati community, I request you to never grow distant from your mother tongue, this effort should be continuous for the upcoming generations.”
PM Modi's request to the people of the Indian diaspora
Prime Minister Modi also had a request to the people of the Indian diaspora. He asked the people, “Can you all do me a favour?” to which the people shouted “Yes” and raised their hands when asked by the PM. He continued by saying, “It’s a very small request, and I am saying this to all the Indians across the world that you decide that every year, you all together will send five non-Indian families as tourists to India every year.”

'Howdy, Modi' Event
PM Modi had earlier addressed a gathering of 50,000 people of the Indian-American community at the mega-event 'Howdy, Modi'. Prime Minister was joined by United States President Donald Trump. This was the first time both the global leaders shared a stage together. Both the leaders in their respective speeches spoke about various issues and achievements.
