Satirists and cartoonists in Kenya mock US elections

Kenyans continued their tradition of observing the results in the U.S. election with a satirical eye, with a mock election in the west of the country.

Kenyan cartoonist and political commentator Patrick Gathara said the current electoral upheavals in the U.S. were "very comical", when the country has been "at the forefront of painting itself as this developed democracy."

Gathara has been drawing, writing, tweeting and blogging about the U.S elections, and has painted a picture of an America holding elections that resemble some of Africa's less credible votes.

"Even their own electoral system seems incapable of delivering a result that most or at least half of their population can accept as credible," he claimed.

Meanwhile in western Kenya, the birthplace of former President Barack Obama's father, ordinary citizens have been holding their own mock U.S elections to actively protest against President Trump, with cardboard boxes for ballot boxes and scrap pieces of paper for ballot papers.
