A video of a woman from Sulphur has gone viral around the world due to her special bond with the turtles. The woman explains that she enjoys feeding the turtles and meets them every evening in a small pond right outside her house.
A rare connection
Donna Thibodeaux has been feeding these little creatures from the past one year. She said that whenever the turtles detect the vibrations and sound of her dog, they immediately come swimming towards the bank. Donna has Lupus that comes with photosensitivity and stops her from getting exposed to sunlight, due to which she cannot go outside of her house during the day time, to avoid skin rashes and infection. Donna explains that due to Lupus, all her energy gets easily drained which makes her joints swell, and the rashes wreak havoc on her body. Meeting the turtles every evening gives her fresh air and keeps her moving a little, which is physically benefiting her.
Kindness is a universal language: Donna
The woman also talked about a rare turtle, unlike others in the pond, who broke the mold. Donna explains that one turtle in the pond is very interactive and comes to the bank every evening to meet the woman and her dog. Donna had named the turtle Bertha Mae, who crawls up to her every day and lets Donna pet her and never fails to greet her. The video got appreciation from around the world, with people sharing their own stories about their relations with their own pets.
Donna believes that these small gestures will go a long way. It's a rare yet precious connection that makes her feel happy. She also added that her turtles recognize the language of kindness, and that kindness is a universal language.
