President Donald Trump says he uses swabs "every other day" during his visit to a Maine company that makes the important tool to use in coronavirus testing.

"The product is superior, it's terrific," said Trump during a trip to Puritan Medical Products. "It is made in the USA, and that's I shouldn't tell you this, but I use it every other day. I go like this. I say, is it that a Puritan, please. it's a great product."

Trump traveled to rural Guilford, population 1,500, the home to Puritan Medical Products, one of only two major companies producing a special type of swab needed to ramp up testing.

The Trump administration is providing $75.5 million through the Defense Production Act for Puritans to double production to 40 million swabs a month, and the company plans to open a second production site by July 1. More than 350 workers in Guilford have been working long hours since the coronavirus pandemic began.

Trump also took jabs at the state's Democratic governor on for not reopening businesses shuttered by the coronavirus and opting for a phased reopening instead. "When are you going to open the state up? Seriously, you're going to miss your whole you know, you do 40 million people in tourism and you have a governor that won't let you open up," said Trump.

"How can you be closed? I mean and I see it all the time. Everybody wants to have a man up. And so I figured and most will say, well, I'm up here, here to get the state open. Governor, open the state."
