With wounds of 2012 Sandy Hook massacre still fresh in minds, an association founded by Sandy Hook victims' relatives after the massacre in the United States has posted a startling advertisement featuring children fleeing on the gunfire sound. The ad is named “Back-To-School Essentials” posted on Facebook and has gone viral with users all praise for the effort and how powerful the video really is.

The 'Back-to-school' Ad

The video starts with children showing their new backpacks, headphones and binder folders. However, the tone then changes almost immediately when a young boy is seen running showing off his sneakers as the sound of gunfire is heard in the background. Later, a girl using her new jacket to close classroom doors and the young boy breaking through the window with his new skateboard. Another girl in the video says that these scissors come really handy standing as a protector with scissors in hand. A girl can be seen ripping her knee socks and using it as a tourniquet on a mate's hurt and bleeding legs. The scene then quickly shifts to a girl who is frightened sitting in a dark corner of the toilet and quickly punches in a message saying that she loves her mom in her mobile phone and tries to restrict her tears amidst the sound of approaching footsteps. A message then comes telling the viewers that It's back to school time and they know what that means. Ending the video come a message that says that school shootings are preventable if one knows the signs.

Netizens react to the Ad

The video has gone viral with over 350,000 views 1,500 comments and has been shared over 26,500 times and was just uploaded over 21 hours back. Netizens are all praise for the video. A user said "So powerful and so sad to think children have lived through this very thing I can't believe we allow this to continue." "I am from the UK and yet to have any children, however, this made me cry. This is incredibly well made, poignant, and upsetting and I honestly could not imagine going to school where this is a genuine reality, or sending my future kids to school and this being a reality. What an incredibly powerful PSA" said another user. Another user said that "I burst into tears during this one. Thank you for continuing to fight for our children's lives."
