The chief operating officer of Operation Warp Speed on Saturday hailed the US government's emergency authorization of the first COVID-19 vaccine, calling it "a historic day".
General Gus Perna said "distribution has begun", adding that boxes were being packed and loaded and the vaccine would begin moving from the Pfizer facility to 145 sites across the US.
Perna said he expected the first shipments of the vaccine to arrive Monday morning.
Still, he said it was too early to take "a victory lap", pointing out that there was "a lot of work to do".
