A vocal critic of Islamabad, US President Donald Trump, in an absurd tweet, deficient of facts, acknowledged the sham arrest of Jama'at-ud-Da'wah (JuD) chief and the designated terrorist Hafiz Saeed by Pakistan authorities.

In a tweet reeking of ignorance, Trump claimed that the arrest of the Mumbai terror attacks "mastermind" was made after "10 years of search." Furthermore, the misinformed president of the United States uttered that 'great pressure' was exerted for his "search" for the past two years.

In a so-called crackdown against terrorism, Pakistan arrested the Lashkar-e-Taiba co-founder, yet again. Although, in the past, Saeed, who takes shelter on the Pakistan soil has been arrested and released multiple times. The terrorist has also been roaming freely around the neighbouring country, allegedly under the safety blanket of the Pakistan military.

Moreover, the designated terrorist even made an entry into Pakistan politics back in 2018, as his party- Milli Muslim League decided to use the little known party to contest the General Elections in 2018 and fielded 265 candidates under the banner of Allah-o-Akbar Tehreek (AAT)

Pakistan even banned Saeed’s charities earlier this year and had previously detained him, along with several close aides. However, he has not been charged or put on trial so far, despite India providing categorically handing over a dossier to Pakistan over Saeed's role in the terror attacks of Mumbai on August 21, 2009.

The arrest comes days before Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's maiden visit to US after taking office. The Pakistan Prime Minister through his visit is hoping to revive the relations between the two countries that have been deteriorating since his got elected for office.

Apart from Pakistan's intimacy with terror, their closeness with China has also been a crucial cause of the US-Pakistan strained ties.

The US Department of the Treasury has designated Saeed as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist, and the US, since 2012, has offered a USD 10 million reward for information that brings Saeed to justice.
