US Mass Shooting: 2 Killed After Gunman Opens Fire At Texas Event; 2nd Such Case In 24 Hrs

Texas: In the second incident of the mass shooting in the United States within 24 hours, two people were killed and several others were injured after a gunman opened fire at a park in Round Rock, Texas on Saturday evening (local time), police said.

According to reports, at least six people, including two children, were injured in the shooting incident that took place in the Texas park during a Juneteenth festival. The emergency response officials said that all those injured had “potentially serious injuries.” 

Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks said that the shooting took place around 11 PM at Old Settlers Park following a fight between two groups. He added that a gunman opened fire, striking multiple people.

Banks confirmed that two persons succumbed to bullet injury at the spot, and people with bullet wounds were rushed to a local trauma centre for treatment. "We don't have a suspect in custody at this time," said Rick White of the Round Rock Police Department. A search operation has been launched to nab the accused, he added. 

The Juneteenth Festival, organised by a local nonprofit and the city government, featured a free concert with various performers scheduled for Saturday evening. 

Michigan Mass Shooting

At least 10 people, including an eight-year-old, were shot and wounded after a gunman opened fire at a children's water park in US Michigan on Saturday evening.    

Calling the incident random gunfire, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said that the shooter, who has been hiding in a nearby home, has been ‘contained.’ 

The police claimed that there ‘maybe 10’ victims who were injured in the incident of the open fire at Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad in Rochester Hills. All the injured were rushed to hospital.
