President Donald Trump took to Twitter to attack model Chrissy Teigen and her husband John Legend. The series of tweets took place after MSNBC aired an episode on the criminal justice reform featuring John Legend on September 08. The US President called Teigen, John Legend's “filthy-mouthed wife” on one of his many tweets. He also claimed that he and other Republicans should be given more credit for signing the First Step Act.

The US president said “I SIGNED IT INTO LAW, no one else did, and Republicans deserve much credit. But now that it is passed, people that had virtually nothing to do with it are taking the praise.”

The Criminal Justice Reform

The US President signed the First Step Act into law in December 2018. The law reduced the compulsory minimum prison term for people who commit non-violent drug offenses and prepare people in jail for life after prison through education and workshops. Reducing racial disparities in criminal justice has been a project for both Obama and Trump administration. Former President Barack Obama also signed the Fair Sentencing Act into law back in 2010. The First Step Act builds on what Obama did. Both Obama and US President Trump have taken steps to achieve the reform.
