Adam Schiff, the Chairman of House Intelligence Committee reportedly said on September 29 that he expects the whistleblower will be testifying against President Donald Trump's impeachment inquiry "very soon". He further added that the committee will be making sure to protect the whistleblower's identity and the democrats and the director of national intelligence will work out key arrangements to make sure that the attorney's representing him will get the clearance they need to accompany the CIA officer to the testimony. Trump allies in response reportedly suggested that the White House strategy is unclear against the stiffest challenge to his presidency.

Tom Bossert, President Trump's former homeland security adviser urged the US President to confront the crisis at hand and get past his fury over the probe of Russian election interference. He said, “I honestly believe this president has not gotten his pound of flesh yet from past grievances on the 2016 investigation. If he continues to focus on that white whale, it’s going to bring him down.”
