Donald Trump's awkward hug with Suzuki becomes an internet sensation

As President Trump invited the Washington Nationals to the White House on October 04 to celebrate the team's World Series win over the Houston Astros, a photo of an awkward hug between Trump and Nationals catcher Kurt Suzuki has become an internet sensation. The US President reached around the MAGA-hat-wearing and gave him a big hug across his chest. Many netizens have compared the photo with the famous 'Titanic pose', while some have compared it with the 1993 Rolling Stone magazine of the pop star, Janet Jackson.

President Trump also addressed the crowd of players and hundreds of red-clad nationals fans that had gathered under sunny skies on the South Lawn of the White House. He said, “America fell in love with Nats baseball.” the Marine Corps Band also played a rendition of the team's theme song, “Baby Shark”. Further First Lady Melania Trump and the White House also congratulated the team on Twitter.

White House visit declined

The ceremonial White House visits by sport title-winning teams have become controversial under Trump as several teams including the NBA's Golden State Warriors, the NFL Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and the US Women's World Cup-winning team have declined to make the White House visits or have not been invited. Even in Monday's event notable exceptions of the star behind baseman like Anthony Rendon, Sean Doolittle and a handful of others were also missing.
