North Carolina is taking the spotlight in the 2020 presidential race, Wednesday.

Hours before President Donald Trump holds a rally there this evening, Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris was participating in early vote mobilization events.

Speaking to a crowd in Asheville, Harris said the outcome of the election could, "in many ways," be decided by North Carolina.

"The choices and the decisions you are making will impact people around the country. In that way, what you are doing to vote and vote early is going to impact people that you may never meet," she told the crowd.

North Carolina and its 15 electoral votes are highly sought after in this presidential campaign, and Trump has a far more difficult electoral path if he can't pull off a win there.

Trump and Vice President Mike Pence have visited the state multiple times over the past two months, but Democrats believe they can turn out enough voters to turn the battleground state blue this cycle.

North Carolina has voted for Republicans 10 of the last 12 presidential elections but Barack Obama and Biden narrowly took the state in 2008.
