On September 11, a pizza chain, Ledo Pizza in the US apologized for its insensitive pizza tweet that received backlash. The pizza chain of Annapolis tweeted a picture of a pizza they designed like the American flag saying 'Never Forget' on the day that marked the 18th anniversary of 9/11 terror attacks in the US. At such time, the pizza tweet was not well received by the people.
The now-deleted tweet of Ledo Pizza
The tweet had a picture of a pizza with toppings that made the square-shaped pizza look like the flag of the United States. The caption had a hashtag #NeverForget and a symbol of the US flag. The tweet did not go well with the netizens as it came at a time when the nation was mourning one of the most terrible attacks ever (9/11). The pizza company deleted their tweet and then tweeted the picture of a US flag stock image. Till then many internet users had already noticed the tweet and the screenshots started circulating. A Twitter user sharing the screenshot wrote, "Your recently deleted tweet might just be the most tone-deaf 9/11 "brand" tweet to ever be posted. How dare you trivialize our nation's most impactful tragedy in recent memory with a goddamn pizza flag. Save it for 4th of July, you tactless clods". Many other users wrote on how they did not like what Ledo pizzas tweeted. The company had to issue an apology in a series of tweets the same day.

Again, if you are familiar with Ledo Pizza, you know that we would never intentionally do anything to dishonor our flag and we hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive us for this misstep. #WeAreSincerelySorry

The 9/11 terror attacks
On September 11 in the year 2001, the terrorist organization al-Qaeda carried out four coordinated terror attacks in the United States. Four US commercial airlines were hijacked by 19 terrorists who flew the airlines to crash them into the twin towers of World Trade Centre in Lower Manhattan, the Pentagon and rural Pennsylvania. These were one of the deadliest terror attacks seen in the world killing around 3000 people. Ever since, the US was on a hunt to grab the leader of the attacks, Osama Bin Laden. The American agencies became really strict about their national security after the attacks. In 2011, they finally killed their enemy after locating him at Abbottabad in Pakistan where he had been hiding. The US still mourns and remembers those innocent people who lost in their lives in the 9/11 attacks.
