New York: 4 dead, 3 injured in shooting in Brooklyn

At least four people were shot dead and three others got injured in a shooting in Brooklyn, New York on October 12. The shooting took place on Saturday morning near Utica Avenue. The injured persons have been hospitalised and are considered to be out of danger. The injured people included a woman and two men. The shooting took place at 74 Utica Avenue, in the Weeksville neighbourhood of Brooklyn. The police have not been able to describe the type of building in which the shooting took place though the address shows a social club on an online map of the street. The police didn’t divulge further details about the incident and no arrests have been made so far. All the men, who died in the shooting, were identified as Hispanic, but the police spokesperson had refused to attribute it as a hate crime against a race. Police claimed that two men got into a heated argument with some people and left the bar only to come back with handguns and shot them. But the gun control campaign took a back seat after US President Donald Trump’s impeachment process gained momentum. President Trump has not been in favour of stricter gun laws and had said that he would veto a House-passed bill to expand background checks for gun purchases. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was hopeful about other gun-related proposals that Congress can approve and Trump can support.
