After addressing the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Dr. Lotay Tshering, Prime Minister of Bhutan on September 27. The two leaders reviewed the bilateral relationship following the visit of Prime Minister Modi to Bhutan in August 2019.

Discussions on diverse sectors
According to the Ministry of External Affairs press release, the two leaders expressed satisfaction at the progress made in diverse sectors including development partnership, hydropower cooperation, people to people ties and recent initiatives taken in the newer areas of space, digital connectivity, the financial sector and tertiary education.

The fourth meeting between the two leaders in the past year
PM Modi welcomed Bhutan into the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) as a founding member. The Coalition was announced by the Prime Minister in the course of the Climate Action Summit held on 23 September in New York. This was the fourth meeting between the two Prime Ministers in the last one year which reflects India’s close relations with Bhutan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his compelling speech at the 74th UN General Assembly, spoke extensively on India's roadmap to development and underlined the achievements of the country at the global platform. In his final speech at the UNGA, PM Modi hailed Mahatma Gandhi's message of truth and non-violence that stands relevant to for the world even today. He said, "This year the whole world is celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. His message of truth and non-violence is very relevant for us even today for peace, progress, and development of the world. It is a matter of pride for me to address the UN General Assembly on behalf of India. This year the biggest election in the world took place in India and the people gave me the mandate and that's why I am here."
