Senior Trump official faked resume to get a job with US State Department: Reports
Senior Trump official, Mina Chang, exaggerated things mentioned on her Resume, faked her picture on the Times magazine cover and got a job at the US state dept
A 35-year-old official in the US state department, Mina Chang, exaggerated things mentioned on her Resume, faked her picture on the Times magazine cover and secured a job at the US state department. According to reports, her picture on the Times cover with a headline, "We change the world: Modern humanitarian in the digital age", was one of the few things that she bought to her interview in the year 2017. At the time she gave the interview, Chang was a chief executive at a nonprofit organization and she also featured in a show where she spoke about the measures to restrict the influence of extremist groups like the Islamist state and Boko Haram.
False claims by Mina Chang
An investigation was launched and it was found out that the Times magazine cover was just one of the fabricated things she had used to secure the state department job. It was revealed that Chang has exaggerated her work history and made false claims about her professional background.
According to reports, Chang was in line for a promotion to a senior level at the US Agency for International Development's Bureau for Asia but her candidature was suddenly removed without any explanation. Officials of the Trump-led-administration stated that the state department did not address their questions about Mina Chang's alleged qualifications.
'Lies'
Mina mentioned in her department biography that she was an alumnus of the prestigious Harvard Business School and is also someone who had addressed the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. However, Harvard business school chief marketing and communications officer, Brian Kenny, stated that Chang was enrolled and completed an 8-week course titled Advanced Management Program, a course very different from the regular master's administration degree.
Chang's claims of addressing the conventions seemed to be false as she addressed an international affairs policy summit that took place during both the Democratic and Republican conventions but was not a convention sponsored event.
According to reports, she had also exaggerated the level of her nonprofit's work as she stated that the organisation had its presence in a lot of countries, helping a lot of people but records of her nonprofit's tax filings did not have solid information about projects in foreign lands and also showed a budget of $300,000 with only a few people employed as staff members.
