A day before the second and final presidential debate between President Donald Trump and his opponent, Joe Biden, Trump is complaining that aspects of the upcoming showdown are "unfair."

Speaking to reporters as he left the White House for a rally in North Carolina, Trump said the addition of a mute button "is very unfair" and said he thinks it's wrong the debate focus is no longer strictly on foreign affairs.

Late Monday, the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates announced that Trump and Biden will each have his microphone cut off while his rival delivers his opening two-minute answer to each of the six debate topics.

The rule changes come three weeks after a chaotic opening faceoff between the two presidential contenders that featured frequent interruptions - most often by Trump.

The open discussion portion of the debate will not feature a mute button, but interruptions by either candidate will count toward their time.

Trump also continued his protest over the debate moderator, NBC's Kristen Welker, insisting she can't be neutral.

"The anchor (Welker) is a very biased person, her parents are very biased. But that's my life," Trump said to reporters.

The president was leaving the White House for a rally in Gastonia, North Carolina.

North Carolina is a must win battleground state for Trump as he looks to hold on to the White House.
