Its been 18 years since 2996 people lost their lives after the Twin Towers crumbled in front of the world but family and friends of these victims are still asked the question of why they stand and remember the now deceased and in response they say that what happened all those years ago never lets us forget and it is something we can't forget. It is just like a looming cloud over our heads.

The observance held is to remember all those who lost their lives on that fateful day when planes crashed into the towers, the Pentagon and Stonycreek township. During these rememberance ceremonies, names of all the victims are read out aloud that is complemented by a few minutes of silence and ringing bells to mark the time when the crash took place and the Twin Towers crumbled.

The memorial glade

More and more people are coming to know about the first responders, policemen who laid down their lives to save people or fell ill due to prolonged exposure in a contaminated environment and these people were given due recognition when the Memorial glade was established at ground zero. The glade is made up of 6 big slabs of granite with a message to honor all those who helped that led to injury, sickness or death. People are of the opinion that these tributes have a special significance.

9/11 is not only a day for remembering or thinking about what happened but also a day to ensure that nothing of such an intensity ever happens again. This day will be remembered not to cloud the memory but to show that America still stands strong after the deadly attacks that were planned against them.
