Virus patient numbers rise in south Russia hospital

A regional hospital in the southern Russia city of Krasnodar is vaccinating its staff while it deals with an increasing number of COVID-19 patients, Russian state TV reported Friday.Footage from RU-RTR showed medical workers in Krasnodar clinical hospital getting vaccinations, while more new patients were arriving by ambulance.

There are many patients, we want to protect ourselves," said Anna Fisenko, head nurse of the hospital's cardiology department.Meanwhile, the Krasnodar Drama Theatre began streaming its latest play online with audiences unable to attend performances due to virus restrictions.The show, called "The Arrhythmia of Humanity", is dedicated to the doctors on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Russia reported another record in the number of daily coronavirus cases on Friday, announcing that 18,283 people had tested positive in the last 24 hours.The country imposed a nationwide mask mandate earlier this week and advised restaurants, bars and entertainment venues to close after 11:00pm in an effort to curb the spread of the virus.
