VP Naidu holds discussion with Venezuelan President at NAM Summit
Vice President Venkaiah Naidu held discussions with President of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro on the sidelines of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Baku.

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu held discussions with President of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro on the sidelines of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Baku, Azerbaijan on October 26. Venkaiah Naidu congratulated Maduro on the successful tenure as NAM chairperson.

Deliberations on South-South cooperation
Vice President secretariat said that the two leaders held discussions on a wide range of issues of mutual interest. They also deliberated on the need to boost South-South cooperation by forging constructive development partnerships with countries across the globe.
Naidu also interacted with several leaders including Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani, his Vietnamese counterpart Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh and Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez. During deliberations with Vietnamese Vice President, Naidu spoke of the two millennia-old civilizational linkages and the historical bond of trust and friendship shared by the two nations.
Address at the 18th NAM Summit
On October 25, Naidu, in his address at the 18th NAM Summit, had said that he would like to felicitate the outgoing Chair for its “successful coordination of the activities of our Movement over the last three years”. The Vice President called his visit to Azerbaijan as historic gave the example of ‘Ateshgah’ fire temple for the age-old historical relations and cultural exchanges. Later, he also visited the fire temple and mentioned that the 18th-century monument has wall inscriptions in Devanagiri and Gurumukhi, scripts of Hindi and Punjabi language respectively.

Diwali wishes from Vice President
The Vice President, on Saturday, also wished the people of India on the auspicious occasion of Deepawali. “Diwali is the harbinger of hope and beckons to us to take the initiative to light a lamp rather than cursing the darkness. Deepawali urges us to keep this light burning bright so that we may continue to endeavour to build a better, more humane, peaceful and compassionate world,” said Naidu.
