In the December 27 clip, Reynolds, accompanied by a camera crew, strolls around the gym, capturing reactions. A gym member tells her the attire is inappropriate, prompting Reynolds to assert, “If you don't have clothes on, you need to be out of here, ma'am.” The man, claiming knowledge in the entertainment industry, insists she should leave. The incident, part of a livestream, fuels a heated social media debate.
Social Media criticism
The incident triggers an extensive social media discussion with users criticising Reynolds. Some express the desire for legal consequences, asserting the gym member was right.
Others condemn Reynolds for playing the victim and highlight frustrations with influencers and their perceived sense of invincibility.
Reynolds' responds
In a subsequent post, Reynolds clarifies that she wore a gym bra and bathing suit bottoms, not being nude. Dismissing the backlash, she compares her attire to women wearing revealing gym clothing. She dismisses the controversy, emphasizing that her outfit was not inappropriate.
"Why everyone acting like I was naked lmao. The amount of women who wear pants up the ass at the gym... This is nothing bad at all," she said.
Comparison with male YouTuber
Hours later, Reynolds shares another post, comparing her situation to a male YouTuber wearing body paint. She asserts that the reaction to her actions is exaggerated and requests space to pursue her fitness goals without unnecessary scrutiny.
