World Mental Health Day focuses on suicide prevention this year
World Mental Health is observed on October 10 every year. The theme for this year is Suicide Prevention. The WHO has released clips to help prevent suicide.

World Mental Health is observed on October 10 every year, it is observed to make people aware about mental health issues across the world and garner support for mental health. The theme of this year is 'Suicide Prevention.'
Every 40 seconds someone loses their life to suicide
As per the World Health Organisation, every 40 seconds someone loses their life to suicide. Suicide is amongst the main causes of death for people who are aged between 15 to 29 as per the World Health Organization. WHO has released an array of videos on social media to shed light on the methods which health workers, rescue workers, teachers and employers can use to prevent suicide.

The day was first observed in 1992 and had no theme. 1994 onwards, the theme for World Mental Health Day was introduced and the first theme was 'Improving the Quality of Mental Health' services throughout the World. World Mental Health Day is supported by the World Health Organisation.
