Arijit Singh Bestowed With Padma Shri Honour On The Eve Of Republic Day 2025, Fans Overwhelmed With Joy
Bollywood playback singer Arjit Singh has been awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award of the Republic of India.
Padma Awards 2025: Bollywood playback singer Arjit Singh has been awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award of the Republic of India, on the eve of the 76th Republic Day . This year, the President approved 139 Padma awards including seven Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri. It was a moment of celebration and joy for Arjit and his fans, who took to social media to mark his achievement.
The singer, known for his soulful voice and has delivered hits like Tum Hi Ho, Chahun Main Ya Naa, Channa Mereya, Nashe Si Chadh Gayi and many more in Hindi films, began his career by participating in a music reality show in 2005. 20 years on, he has come a long way. He is not only one of the highest-paid lead vocalists in India, but also the most-followed artist globally on Spotify, with over 134 million followers.
Arijit made his Hindi cinema debut in 2011 with the song Phir Mohabbat along with Saim Bhatt and Mohammed Irfan. The track was composed by Mithoon for the film Murder 2, starring Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandez. It was with with successful tracks Tum Hi Ho and Chahun Main Ya Naa in Aashiqui 2 (2013) that he rose to stardom in Bollywood.
Celebs from entertainment field bestowed with Padma Awards
Late musicians Sharda Sinha, Pankaj Udhas, Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar, veteran filmmaker Shekhar Kapur and singer Arijit Singh were among 139 recipients of the coveted Padma Awards for the year 2025 announced on the eve of Republic Day. Folk singer Sinha and noted Malayalam screenwriter-director MT Vasudevan Nair have been posthumously honoured with Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award for exceptional and distinguished service.
Renowned Ghazal singer Udhas has been posthumously honoured with the third highest highest civilian award Padma Bhushan, along with Ajith, Kapur, Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, cinema veteran Anant Nag and Bharatnatyam dancer-actor Shobana.
Arijit Singh as well as veteran actor Ashok Saraf, theatre stalwart Barry John, singer Jaspinder Narula and Grammy-winning musician Ricky Kej will receive Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award.
