Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case: Actor Recovering Well, Most Likely To Be Discharged From Lilavati Hospital Tomorrow

The alleged attacker of Saif Ali Khan hid in the garden of the Bandra building for two hours after stabbing the actor inside his apartment on January 16 during a burglary bid, a police official told PTI on Monday. "After committing the crime (On January 16), Fakir hid in the garden inside the Satguru Sharan building where Saif Ali Khan lives with his family for around two hours as he was afraid of getting caught," the official said citing the preliminary investigation.
 

Kareena Kapoor was spotted leaving the Lilavati Hospital after checking on her husband Saif Ali Khan. 

At a press event for his upcoming movie Sky Force, Akshay Kumar called Saif Ali Khan "brave" for protecting his family during a shocking burglary attempt at his residence in Mumbai. Akshay said, "It's very nice that he is safe. It's very good. We are happy. The whole industry is happy that he is safe. It was very brave of him that he protected his family and hats off to him." He added, "Meine uske saath ek film ki hai Main Khiladi Tu Anari lekin agli baar agar hum karenge toh banayenge film Tu Khiladi." (I did a film with him called Main Khiladi Tu Anari, but next time if we do a film together, we'll make it Tu Khiladi)."

 

After an over 70-hour joint operation, Mumbai Police and the crime branch were able to catch the 30-year-old attacker who stabbed Saif Ali Khan at his home using his digital footprints.

Mumbai Police honoured investigating team members who nabbed Saif Ali Khan’s attacker Shariful Islam Shehzad. 

The accused, arrested on Sunday, initially tried to mislead investigators by claiming that he is a Kolkata resident, however, police nailed his lie and secured his school leaving certificate from his Bangladesh-based brother on his mobile phone, the official told PTI. This certificate has become strong evidence to prove the Bangladeshi nationality of the 30-year-old accused, identified as Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir who changed his name to Vijay Das. "After he was nabbed by police, Fakir told police that his name was Vijay Das and he was a resident of Kolkata. He, however, failed to provide any document to support his claim. He disclosed his true name and Bangladeshi nationality during interrogation," an official said.

Police then made Fakir call someone from his family in Bangladesh. "He called his brother and asked him to send his school living certificate. His brother sent it (the certificate) on Fakir's mobile phone. This document is strong evidence to prove he is a Bangladeshi national," the official added.


 

The Bangladeshi national arrested for allegedly stabbing actor Saif Ali Khan had panicked upon seeing his image on TV channels and was planning to flee to his native country when he was nabbed, police officials told PTI on Monday.

For days after the attack on Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence, Kareena Kapoor with her sons Jeh and Taimur was reported to be living at her sister Karisma's house. A video doing rounds on January 20 showed the actress' car entering the Satguru Sharan apartment building. 

 

As per reports, Mumbai Police has collected 19 fingers of the accused Mohammed Shehzad from various locations of Saif Ali Khan's home including bathroom window, duct shaft, and ladder, among others. 

Member of the Maharashtra Assembly from the Shiv Sena, Aaditya Thackeray took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to share a note expressing concern that Saif Ali Khan's attacker has been identified as a illegal migrant from Bangladesh. 
 

Regarding the accused arrested in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case, Shiv Sena leader Shambhuraj Desai says, "The police will track down every individual involved, and no one will be spared" 

 

Saif Ali Khan's sister Saba Pataudi took to her Instagram stories to share an update on the actor, who is currently recovering in the hospital. 

Sanjay Dutt has been regularly frequenting visits to the Lilavati hospital where Saif Ali Khan is admitted. The actor arrived to check on his peer on January 20 as well. 
 

The 30-year-old man arrested for stabbing and injuring actor Saif Ali Khan slept soundly after the attack and changed his clothes before heading to Worli, a police official said on Monday. The Mumbai police on Sunday arrested the accused, Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, a Bangladeshi national, in neighbouring Thane city. The official said after attacking the actor, the accused had a restful sleep at a bus stop, changed his clothes and reached Bandra railway station, from where he travelled to Dadar and later to Worli before heading to Thane city.


 

Ever since his hospitalisation, Ibrahim Ali Khan and Sara Ali Khan have been frequenting the Lilavati Hospital to check up on their ailing father - Saif Ali Khan. 
 

Saif Ali Khan's wife and actress Kareena Kapoor took to her Instagram account to issue a stern warning to the media and paparazzi on the constant scrutiny of their family. 
 

Kareena Kapoor's cousin and Shashi Kapoor's grandson, actor Zahan Kapoor told Money Control, “I can’t comment on the incident itself because I don’t think anyone knows the full details yet. What I do know is that he is safe and recovering well. He is completely out of danger, and for that, I am incredibly thankful. It is undoubtedly a shocking event.”

On Saif Ali Khan's health condition, his sister Soha Ali Khan says, "We are very happy that he is recovering...We are thankful, blessed and grateful..." 
 

Saif Ali Khan continues to recover after suffering multiple stab injuries during an alleged burglary attempt at his Bandra residence, Dr Nitin Dange of Lilavati Hospital shared a health update on Monday. While speaking to the media, Dange informed us that the actor would remain under observation for another day, and the decision to discharge him would be made in the next one to two days.
 

As per a report in PTI, the police said that after stabbing Saif Ali Khan, the accused fled from the building and took shelter at Bandra Bus Station. He was at the bus station till 7 AM.

Two lawyers fought in a Mumbai court over representing the man accused of stabbing actor Saif Ali Khan in his Bandra apartment.

Bandra Police brought the accused, who attacked actor Saif Ali Khan, from Santacruz Police Station to Bandra Police Station.

It has been reported that Mumbai police will record Saif Ali Khan's statement either today evening or tomorrow.

Last evening, senior officers of the Mumbai police team went to meet Saif Ali Khan, but he was sleeping at that time. So they had to return.
 

A source told Republic that Saif Ali Khan is being treated on the 11th floor of Lilavati Hospital. A team of Mumbai police has been deployed on this floor for security and no one is being allowed to meet him except family or people very close to the family. Meanwhile, the actor is doing well and the decision on discharge will be either taken today or tomorrow.

It is reported that the accused was arranging money as he wanted a fake passport to return to Bangladesh.
 

The accused told the police that he had also planned to hold Saif Ali Khan's youngest son Jeh hostage and demand money. After entering the house, he immediately demanded Rs 1 crore from the home nurse, who was looking after the child, thinking she was a member of the family. When whole family members woke up, they got scared. The accused told the police that he had not planned to stab Saif Ali Khan and that he stabbed him out of fear. He was scared when the actor arrived. That is why he ran away without taking anything. The accused said that his aim was to return to Bangladesh.

Saif Ali Khan will likely be kept under observation for one more day, says Lilavati Hospital COO. The doctors' team will take the call after meeting the actor’s family. On the health front, Saif is recovering well, as confirmed by Lilavati Hospital COO Niraj Uttamani.

Sources are saying that the accused said that he had also done a recce of both Khan's houses and he attacked Saif Ali Khan only after doing a recce of his house.

The actress took to her Instagram on Sunday and shared a picture of the actor alongside her picture. She also penned a long note in the caption, calling for greater security and the safety of the artist community. She wrote, "The brutal attack by an intruder on Saif Ali Khan at his place of residence in the wee hours a few days ago has sent 'shock waves' in our society and in particular, the actor's community. I personally had a theft at my home & all this brings our attention more vividly on security." She added, " I seriously condemn such horrific acts that endanger us and our family. We are confident that our most efficient police force will soon nab the culprit. I wish Saif a very speedy recovery."

At an event in Indore, actress Bhagyashree said that the latest incident at Bandra has put a question mark on the safety of a lot of people who live in Mumbai. While speaking to ANI, she said, "When incidents like this happen in Mumbai, then everyone gets tensed. The local public too. It's not about Bollywood, it's about the safety of everyone. Everyone's safety is under a question mark. And especially if an immigrant does something like this, then we should definitely secure our Indian borders, very important." The actress shared that she was "shocked" when she came to know about the incident. "We who live in Mumbai are very shocked by what happened because Mumbai is considered as one of the safest cities in India hah. So, after the incident, obviously, everyone is tense. But the Police are doing their job well. And I think in the latest news, the assailant has been caught. Therefore, I hope the legal process starts soon."

According to the official, police might take the attacker to Saif-Kareena’s house at Satguru Sharan building in these five days to recreate the crime scene as part of their investigation.

As per IANS, the Mumbai Police has shared that the accused was unaware of whose house he was looting. They also clarified the intent behind the crime was just robbery with no intention to cause harm.  

Saif Ali Khan was repeatedly stabbed with a knife by the intruder inside his 12th-floor apartment in upscale Bandra in a shocking attack on January 16. Sister Soha Ali Khan, on Sunday, said her brother Saif Ali Khan is “recovering well” from the injuries. “We are very very happy that he is recovering well. We are thankful, we feel blessed and grateful that it wasn’t any worse. Thank you for all your wishes,” Soha told reporters on the sidelines of an event here.

Saif Ali Khan's attacker Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad was sent to police custody for five days by the Bandra Holiday Court on Sunday.
