Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Mystery Deepens As Lawyer Claims Accused’s Face Doesn’t Match To The Person in CCTV
Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case: Accused Shariful Islam's lawyer has backed his claim with a forensic report of face analysis.
Mumbai Police is busy investigating the case of Saif Ali Khan, who was stabbed on January 16, by an intruder, who is now said to be a Bangladeshi resident. On Friday, the Bandra Magistrate extended the police custody of the accused stating that the court observed that there is substantial progress in the matter and that investigating other consequential aspects is necessary. The offence is serious and triable by the sessions court. They have extended the custody of the accused till January 29. On the other hand, the accused's lawyer has claimed that the face of Shareeful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir (30) alias Vijay Das doesn't match the CCTV still. He has backed his claim with a forensic report of face analysis.

Speaking to the media, Sandeep said that via face recognition it is evident that Shehzad is not the guy who attacked Saif Ali Khan at his residence and the same is confirmed by the accused's father. He further mentioned that the forehead hair, jawline and nose structure didn't match. Even the skin stone is different to what appears in the CCTV still. He further shared a report of face matching done by Brilliance Forensic Investigation Pvt. Ltd as proof. The images show a detailed comparison of both faces from forehead to skin tone.
Sandeep added, "As per the law after the arrest, the relative of the arrested person is to be informed." However, in this case, it was not done. "I had a talk with the accused, he is very nervous. He has explained everything and gave his statement that he is not the guy in CCTV he is falsely held in the custody," he continued.
The accused's lawyer further questioned when Saif was attacked, why he did not call any helpline number and why there was a delay of 45 minutes.

Speaking to Republic, Shareeful's father claimed that the man the police had caught was not Saif's attacker. "The guy in CCTV is not my son," he said.
The Mumbai Police's claims of being in contact with Shareeful's family have also been countered by his father. The cops said that they reached out to the suspect's kin in Bangladesh to obtain his certificates, but Shareeful's father told us that no calls were made by the police to them.
