Court Makes Mockery Of Justice, Family Fires Backs Says We Don’t Want Compensation

RG Kar Rape Case: The Kolkata court on Monday sentenced the accused Sanjoy Roy of raping and murdering an on-duty doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital to life imprisonment instead of the anticipated capital punishment. The victim’s family has voiced their discontent reiterating their refusal to accept the government-proposed compensation.

Abhaya's parents made it clear that they do not want the compensation of 17 lakh rupees offered by the government. Abhaya’s lawyer also voiced strong disapproval of the verdict, stating, "This crime was so brutal that it clearly calls for capital punishment.”

Netizens Fire Back At Kolkata Court's Order 

Soon after Kolkata Court's judgement, social media users took to X and expressed their discontent.  One user wrote, “If this is how the judiciary handles the rarest of rare cases, imagine how they treat an ordinary case. No wonder people aren’t afraid to commit such crimes! Life in jail with meals and no remorse , whats the use of such punishment!

“Hogwash judgement, should have got capital punishment, with life imprisonment he will lead his life well get paroles & ultimately be released due to 'good behaviour' like a certain manu sharma was & whats with the fine of 50K how can a court put a price tag to such a crime! The judicial system is completly rotten!!,” other wrote. 

“Disappointed with the court’s decision, he deserves to be hanged until death. However, why does he keep claiming that he is being framed and is not guilty of the crime he committed?,” a third user added.
