On BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari's protest march over death incident in Midnapore Medical College allegedly due to an expired saline solution, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh says, "What Suvendu Adhikari is saying is wrong. The investigation is already going on against the saline (company). The sample has been sent for a retest. Some doctors showed an irresponsible attitude. Inordinate delay on part of AAP govt over tabling CAG reports in state assembly: Delhi HC  

More than 570 cases of alleged violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) have so far been registered ahead of the February 5 Delhi Assembly polls, an official said on Friday.The cases were lodged between January 7, when the MCC into force, and January 23.A total of 19,065 people were arrested under various legal provisions, including those under the Excise Act, during this period, according to a statement.

Shariful Islam Sajjad's father Md Ruhul Amin on Friday claimed that his son was innocent and urged India to release immediately. Shariful was reportedly arrested in Mumbai in connection with the attacks on actor Saif Ali Khan.

Shariful Islam is a resident of Rajabaria village in Jhalakathi, a southern district of Bangladesh situated more than 200 km from capital Dhaka.

Md Ruhul Amin has claimed that Shariful is the second son of his three sons.

"I have come to know through various YouTube channels and journalists via telephone that my 30-year-old son Shariful Islam Sajjad has been arrested in India for assaulting actor Saif Ali Khan", Md Ruhul Amin told ANI, over the phone.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday flagged off ‘SANJAY - the Battlefield Surveillance System (BSS)’ from South Block, New Delhi.

SANJAY is an automated system that integrates the inputs from all ground and aerial battlefield sensors, processing them to confirm their veracity, preventing duplication and fusing them to produce a Common Surveillance Picture of the battlefield over a secured Army Data Network and Satellite Communication Network. 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to hold public meetings and a roadshow in the national capital on Saturday, January 25, ahead of Delhi Assembly elections in the first week of February next month.

Shah's schedule includes two public meetings and a roadshow across key locations in the city-- a first such public engagement considering the elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly on February 5.

The two public meetings are expected to be held in Rajouri Garden and Trinagar Assembly constituencies while the roadshow is to be held in the Adarsh Nagar area.

The first public meeting will take place in the Rajouri Garden Assembly constituency in the afternoon, where Shah will address residents and party workers, focusing on key issues and development plans.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar paid floral tribute to former Bihar CM Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur, on his birth anniversary, outside the state Assembly in Patna on Friday.

Navrachana School in Vadodara received a bomb threat through an email at 6:30 a.m. on Friday.
The message sent on the school Principal's email address further mentioned that the bomb was fit in a pipeline of the school, said the Vadodara Assistant Commissioner of Police.

Speaking to ANI, the ACP said all units of the bomb disposal team had been sent to the school upon receiving information.

A woman and her daughter were among three people killed in a head-on collision between a bus and car in Rajasthan's Bikaner district on Friday, police said.The accident occurred on the Bikaner-Jaipur national highway in Keetasar village of Sridungargarh town.The bus was on way to Jaipur, Sridungargarh Station House Officer, Jitendra Kumar said.

As the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill commences, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq of Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema on Friday expressed hopes, saying that the decision regarding the Waqf issue won't be taken in haste, where Muslims in the country feel disempowered.

He said that the Waqf board issue remains important since it is connected to the future of Muslims. He said that they have prepared a memorandum and plan to discuss their concerns in a step-by-step manner.

The Enforcement Directorate on Friday conducted searches at multiple places in Rajasthan in a money laundering probe against a former MLA linked to alleged financial irregularities in funds related to supply of sports goods to schools, officials said.A total of nine locations in Jaipur and Dausa in Rajasthan and Rewari in Haryana are being raided in the case against Baljeet Singh, a former independent MLA from Behror (Rajasthan), they said.

Bihar's Panchmahla Police arrested one accused involved in the firing incident that took place between two gangs in Mokama area here.

The arrested has been identified as Sonu Singh of the Sonu-Monu gang.

On January 23, former MLA Anant Singh had alleged that one of his people had got injured in the neck after the two people opened fire at his group.

The former MLA identified the alleged accused involved in the firing incident as Sonu and Monu and called them "kidnappers and thieves.

Two seniors who tested positive for the human metapneumovirus (HMPV) in Jaipur, are now in stable condition.
In a statement made by the hospital authorities on Thursday, a man and a woman were admitted to Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur and tested positive for HMPV.

The duo has co-morbidities but are doing fine after getting treatment and are now stable.

Principal, of Sawai Man Singh Medical College, Deepak Maheshwari, sharing the details, said, "There are two cases - a 70-year-old and a 50-year-old, both with co-morbidities. The condition of both patients is stable now. They have been kept in separate enclosures."

After the son of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan reportedly misbehaved with the Delhi Police, BJP leader Satish Upadhyay, who is a candidate from Malviya Nagar, accused the AAP of "destroying" the law and order of Delhi.

Targeting the AAP further, Upadhyay said that AAP MLAs are coordinating with gangs sitting in foreign countries and indulging in extortion.

The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill of 2024 is set to hold its sittings in Delhi today, a notice issued by Lok Sabha secretariat read.

According to the notice signed by Director Sanjay Sethi, the sittings of the JPC on Waqf will commence from 11:00 AM and will go on till 3:30 PM today, with an hour of lunch break. In the main committee room of the Parliament House Annexe, the JPC members will hear the views or suggestions of cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq of Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema, Jammu and Kashmir.

From 2:00 in the afternoon, the JPC members will hear suggestions of 'Lawyers for Justice' on the Waqf (Amendment Bill) of 2024.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended greetings to Uttar Pradesh people on the occasion of the state's 76th foundation day.

Five people were arrested after a raid conducted by the Gujarat Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) team at a drugs manufacturing unit in Khambhat area of Anand district, police said on Friday.

ATS Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sunil Joshi said that drugs worth crores of rupees were seized during the raid.

The ongoing Mahakumbh-2025 in Prayagraj has witnessed an unprecedented turnout of devotees, with over 100 million people taking a holy dip at the sacred confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati, since January the commencement of the mega spiritual event.

Mumbai Police have recorded the statement of actor Saif Ali Khan in the case related to his stabbing at his Bandra residence by a Bangladeshi national last week, officials said on Friday.

According to Satyanarayan Choudhary, Joint CP of Law and Order, the actor's statement was recorded at his residence 'Satguru Sharan' on Thursday.

An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 on the Richter Scale jolted the Uttarkashi area of Uttarakhand on Friday morning, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 5 km, at latitude 30.85 N and longitude 78.60 E.

Several flights and trains stood delayed from the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Friday from New Delhi due to the persisting foggy weather.

The minimum temperature recorded in the city as per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) was 11 degrees Celsius.

Visuals from ITO, India Gate and Dhaula Kuan and Kartavya Path showed no visibility due to the fog. Visuals also showed people take shelter in camps around the city set up by the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB).

A manager of one of the shelter camps said that all facilities from medicine to food were provided to the people seeking shelter.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai recently accused the Congress of making the constitution ineffective and insulting the judiciary for "selfish gains". "The Congress has amended the constitution multiple times to stay in power, essentially "killing the Constitution," he alleged.

He was speaking at a seminar organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday at Shivashakti Palace as part of the Constitution Awareness Campaign.

Bommai said, "Congress insulted Mahatma Gandhi by claiming 'Jai Bapu' and insulted Dr Ambedkar by claiming 'Jai Bhim.' When former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh attempted to implement laws to curb corruption, Rahul Gandhi tore up those proposals. This reflects Congress' respect for the Constitution."

Delhi Police on Wednesday conducted search operations in slum areas across the national capital as part of an ongoing investigation into Bangladeshi infiltration.

Speaking to ANI, West Delhi DCP Vichitra Veer said that the search operations were conducted at night to ensure easy checking of individuals as family members usually remain at home after work.

"The purpose of conducting the campaign at night is that people go to work during the day. At night all the family members are found at home, which makes verification easier. We have started the process of deportation of 10 Bangladeshis from West Delhi and other districts are also carrying out the process," DCP Vichitra Veer said.

Major Radhika Sen, who is part of the mechanised forces that will be marching on the Kartavya Path on the Republic Day Parade, highlighted the crucial role of women in the Armed forces.

She said that she would be standing on Nandighosh which is a quick reaction force vehicle indigenously made by Bharat Forge.

Speaking to ANI, Major Radhika Sen said, "I am a part of the mechanised forces who are marching on the Kartavya path. I will be standing on Nandighosh which is a quick reaction force vehicle."
 

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has signed 11 pivotal Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth USD 40 billion (Rs 3.5 lakh crore) at the prestigious World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.

As many as four people were killed and several others sustained injuries after a truck collided with their vehicles in Lucknow.

The accident occurred on Kisan Path in Lucknow and involved two vehicles and a truck.

According to DCP East Shashank Singh, there were nine people in one vehicle, out of whom one person died and four people were there in the other vehicle, out of whom, three died.
