MP govt official assures safe disposal of Union Carbide waste, says will be present at site
A senior Madhya Pradesh government official on Tuesday assured robust arrangements for safe disposal of 337 tonnes of waste from Bhopal's Union Carbide factory at a unit in Pithampur town and said he will himself be present when the incineration process commences.
The waste disposal at Pithampur, an industrial town in adjoining Dhar district, faced hurdles after protests erupted early this month when container trucks carrying the hazardous material from Bhopal reached a facility, around 250km from the state capital, for incineration.

96 women in fray for Feb 5 Delhi Assembly polls

Rupee falls 13 paise to close at 86.58 against US dollar
The rupee pared initial gains and settled for the day lower by 13 paise to 86.58 against US dollar on Tuesday, tracking heavy sell-off in the domestic equity market and a recovery in the US dollar index. Forex traders said the dollar weakened from its 109 levels but clawed back to 108.66 as Donald Trump declared tariffs against Canada and Mexico in the near future but stopped short of declaring any tariffs against China.

Tests were done, and we reached the conclusion that there were no bacteria or viruses - that caused those deaths. Later, we found that all those deaths happened in three families. But, we are yet to find the reason behind 17 deaths... Since it's not a disease, police are also involved in it and they have formed a team to investigate the matter. Central govt team is also there - and we together will look into the incidents to find the reason behind all these deaths..."
